Day-by-Day Itinerary

1

Day 1: Fly-in and orientation

Fly from Dar es Salaam to Nyerere in around 45 minutes and transfer to your riverside tented camp. Settle in over lunch and meet your walking guide for a safety briefing. In the afternoon take a gentle orientation walk near camp to stretch your legs and tune into the sounds of the bush before dinner.

2

Day 2: Morning walk and river cruise

Set out at dawn on a guided walking safari with an armed ranger, following animal trails and learning to read the smaller signs of the wild. Return for brunch and rest through the midday heat. In the afternoon board a boat for a Rufiji River cruise, drifting past hippos, crocodiles and clusters of waterbirds.

3

Day 3: Walk to the fly-camp

Enjoy a longer walking safari that carries you deeper into the reserve, guided on foot the whole way. Reach a simple fly-camp pitched in a remote corner of the park, where light canvas tents and a campfire await. Spend the evening around the fire, falling asleep to the calls of the African night.

4

Day 4: Return walk and Lake Tagalala

Wake with the sunrise for a cool morning walk back toward the main camp, alert for fresh tracks along the way. After lunch, take a boat safari and visit Lake Tagalala with its hot springs. Watch the sky change over the water on a sundowner before returning to your tent.

5

Day 5: Last morning and departure

Take an early final walk or short game drive to make the most of the active dawn hours. Return to camp for breakfast and to gather your things. Transfer to the airstrip for the flight back to Dar es Salaam, ending your walking and boat adventure.
